![]() Q: What are triple-scented candles and why don't you say anywhere on your website that you triple-scent your candles? A: When people think of highly fragrant candles, they think of triple-scented candles because a lot of companies out there market their candles as triple-scented so they can claim a strong fragrance. Most companies use 1 oz per pound of wax, but the best practice is to add 2 oz max of fragrance to each pound (16. oz) of wax. If you use more than 2 oz of oil per pound, the fragrance will bleed through if there's too much liquid. I don't claim that my candles are "triple-scented" because if I used triple the amount of fragrance, the liquid could seep out of the wax. I use as much as my wax-per-pound rule will hold, which is a little over 2 oz per pound - that's why D-n-D Ranch Aromas are highly scented. When you buy candles, always ask if the fragrance goes all the way through the wax, not just the top - many companies put the candle's fragrance only in the top portion of the wax so it smells good in the store, but once you get it home and burn it for a short while, the fragrance is gone. I have many people who come into my shop and ask if my candle fragrance burns all the way through because, unfortunately, they have been burned (no pun intended) and are used to not getting what they paid for - the answer, of course, is YES. Q: Why do your candles burn so evenly? A: My candles burn evenly because of the soy/vegetable blend I created, along with the cotton wicks. My wax blend is clean burning and natural. To get an even wax burn, you have to have the proper wick size for the container you're pouring the candle in - if your wick is too small in diameter, it won't give off enough heat; if your wick is too large, it will burn too hot. You have to have just the right wick to burn hot enough to melt the wax evenly. Q: What makes a lead-free candle wick better? A: Lead-free candle wicks are better for candles because they are cleaner and don't emit toxins from the candle into the air. Q: What is so special about hand poured? A: The special thing about hand-poured candles is that they are not coming from a large manufacturer. To me, it's more personal and each D-n-D Ranch Aromas candle is hand poured with pride and care. There's a quality control I don't think you get from a large manufacturer. Q: Why is your candle company named D-n-D Ranch Aromas? A: My candle company is named D-n-D Ranch Aromas after my ranch property, D-n-D Ranch. We have 29 animals, most of them rescues, and it's definitely a place where large and small critters call home. We're not ranch people - we're animal lovers.
